For a VP of Customer Success (VPCS), their “quota” or ownership should revolve around two key metrics: Net Revenue Retention (NRR) and Gross Retention Rate (GRR). You have to hire so many functions in SaaS?—?VPS, If you’re not willing to constantly recruit cross-functionality … you’ll never attract the talent.
But what would be even better would be to also have an experienced peer that is a true VPS or VPM or VPCS. I do this myself for a handful of VPs of Sales and Marketing at companies I work with. I’m the informal mentor, and I think it’s helps them. So here’s my simple suggestion: When you hire a VP, add an extra line item.
