We’ve talked a lot on SaaStr about how to get from $1m to $10m, $2m to $5m, $10m to $30m, etc. etc. One area we haven’t talked as much about is getting from say $100k in ARR to Initial Traction, or $1-$2m in ARR. A bit, but not as much. The reason is while I believe for a Given ACV, everyone sort of scales the same way after Initial Traction … we all find different ways to get to Initial Traction.

Reversing a problem is a common mental model for thinking about a challenge in a novel way. Especially in investing. Google’s share price is $2863.55 as I write this. Is it a good price to buy? The traditional way of thinking would lead one to build a bottoms-up model with a few assumptions and compare the output to the price. But that approach ignores some critical information: the price.
The goal of a cold call is attention + interest, not selling. That means we have to ask the question: How do I get this person to want to speak with me? The post Cold Calling in 2021 appeared first on Predictable Revenue.
ETL and ELT are some of the most common data engineering use cases, but can come with challenges like scaling, connectivity to other systems, and dynamically adapting to changing data sources. Airflow is specifically designed for moving and transforming data in ETL/ELT pipelines, and new features in Airflow 3.0 like assets, backfills, and event-driven scheduling make orchestrating ETL/ELT pipelines easier than ever!
The topic of scaling is central to the mission of SaaStr: “Our goal is to help everyone get from $0 to $100m ARR with less stress and more success.” SaaS is not the right industry to aim for incremental, low single-digit revenue growth. This is an industry where stories of 17x growth – like ClickUp scaling from $4 million to $70 million of ARR, more from their Product Led Growth session here – are surprisingly common.

We believe the 2020s are the decade of data. The trends are ubiquitous and plain. The number of data teams is growing as more companies rely on data for daily operations. In addition, the sophistication of these teams has progressed meaningfully in the last five years. During this period, there have been three main categories of data work: business intelligence, machine learning, and exploratory analytics.
If you're disregarding or underutilizing the social and emotional aspects of sales, your customers might be switching out to the competitors. We asked Dan Balcauski, the founder of Product Tranquility and a SaaS packaging and pricing expert, what companies and salespeople should be doing instead. Q: Dear SaaStr: What Do The Top 1% of Sales Reps Do … That The Other 99% Don’t? I have a pretty good sense what the Top 10% do, though I’m not not 100% sure about the top 1%. On the surface, they seem to be doing the same things the rest of the Top 10% do. If you don’t dig in, it can be hard to tell why the Top 1% perform the rest of the top decile.

The SaaS industry is full of advice on the perfect product metrics to gauge your users’ activation, engagement, and interactions. But how do these concepts translate into real product improvements? If you don’t know exactly what questions you want answered, these product metrics leave you blinded by the very data you hoped would open your eyes. So how do you go from simply plugging your numbers into cookie cutter formulas to answering key questions about your product and business, and providing
Regardless of whether you believe that Epic Games or Apple won in the recent U.S. injunction, the ruling from U.S. District Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers certainly captured the attention of the mobile development community. “When we heard about it, we just stopped what we were doing,” an app developer told us on a recent call. “It shut down our shop for a while.

I’ve mentioned this idea a few times of late (e.g., my previous post , my SaaStock EMEA presentation ) [1] and I’ve had some follow-up questions from readers, so I thought I’d do a quick post on the subject. I guess in some ways SaaStr is a digest of mistakes we all make in recurring revenue businesses, how to avoid them, or at least, make fewer. There’s one important mistake folks tend to make consistently in the early days. It’s the mistake of thinking anyone, any company, actually needs their product. And because they think anyone actually needs their product, they underoptimize their initial go-to-market strategies, or worse, don’t even really have a good one.
