Blockchains are databases application developers use to build novel user experiences. Just as hundreds of different databases exist in web2, different blockchains have evolved in web3. In September, I published the State of Web3 in Data. I’ve been watching one of those charts very closely : slide 25 which tracked L2s & L1s. Layer 2s (or L2s) like Arbitrum & Optimism, sit atop Ethereum (an L1).
In a perfect world, a company’s revenue grows in an upward arc. As a Canadian, we like to think that it resembles a hockey stick curve. However, the systems and processes that provide the scaffolding to support that growth curve tend to evolve in a stair-step fashion. While CloudKettle is a fan of growth, some […] The post Building the RevOps Scaffolding to Support your Planned Growth appeared first on CloudKettle.
Q4 earnings season for cloud businesses is now behind us. The 63 companies that I’ll discuss here (which is not an exhaustive list, but is still comprehensive) all reported quarterly earnings sometime between January 25th – March 30th. In this post, I’ll take a data-driven approach in evaluating the overall group’s performance, and highlight individual standouts along the way.
AI adoption is reshaping sales and marketing. But is it delivering real results? We surveyed 1,000+ GTM professionals to find out. The data is clear: AI users report 47% higher productivity and an average of 12 hours saved per week. But leaders say mainstream AI tools still fall short on accuracy and business impact. Download the full report today to see how AI is being used — and where go-to-market professionals think there are gaps and opportunities.
So this survey and data won’t surprise very many, but I wanted to do it anyway to get the latest data back from the SaaStr community. The learning: your SDRs average tenure is about 14 months, and perhaps most importantly, 52% of you don’t see your SDRs last even 12 months. This shouldn’t be much of a surprise. SDR is an entry level role in most sales orgs, and many SDRs want to be promoted within 12-16 months, or look to move on to where they can get an AE role.
When it comes to creating a successful product or service, one of the most important things you can do is ensure that your users have a seamless experience from the moment they first interact with your platform. That's where user onboarding comes in: it's the process of guiding users through the various features and functions of your product, making it easier for them to get started and find what they need.

Understanding the average customer retention rate for your industry is critical to determining the health of your business. It tells you whether your customer retention rate is too low or just good enough. If customers are the lifeblood of any business, then customer retention is the glue that holds it all together. However, the average customer retention rate by industry varies wildly.
In my dream world, I’d be a content creator full-time. I’ve been an influencer at heart since 2009, before that was even a thing you could be, and have spent my career looking for ways to make a sustainable living from sharing my passions and expertise with the world. As the face of Period Nirvana —the most comprehensive website and educational resource on the topics of menstrual cups and other reusable menstrual products—I spend a good portion of my time making fake
The path for ambitious entrepreneurs in startup mode can often feel more like training for the Spartan Death Race. The late nights, endless hurdles and many false starts stretch executives to their limits. For many, the holy grail is to secure a seat in a trusted accelerator program.
Cloud automation can pay dividends. But it’s not a no-brainer. Who doesn’t secretly wish yesterday’s automation successes would reach the speed of light tomorrow? Why can’t we escape hands-on cloud operations work to unlock software development nirvana (aka frictionless, faster development and deployment processes)? Change. It’s the other constant. Let’s take a closer look at what it takes to successfully overcome the unknown costs of a change in your cloud stack.

Most integrated payments providers share a percent of the payment revenue with their software partners. But, oftentimes, that revenue share is only a fraction of the true income potential software providers can realize. If you want to maximize income opportunities from your payments program, check out Wind River Payments’ webinar-on-demand.
For each of the 14 weeks, more people searched for ChatGPT than Taylor Swift according to Google Trends data. You won’t find people outside of tech hubs googling for microservices or layer 2 blockchains or serverless databases with any great frequency. But Minnesotans & Idahoans & Vermontans are searching for ChatGPT. People are curious about AI.
So the funding platforms, law firms and data sources that track venture all use slightly different data sets, and come to slightly different conclusions. But they all align on one thing: venture investments post-seed stage are way down. How down? The latest CB Insights data I thought summarized it the most elegantly: Deals were down to a 5+ year low , not just lower than the go-go days of late 2020 to late 2021, but down from every single quarter in 2019 and 2018, too.

From leading sales at Zillow to brand strategy at Tumblr to revenue at FiscalNote (a global policy platform), Justin Scott started noticing a trend. Across markets, companies were “taking big data sets and visualizing them in interesting ways to create user experiences.” Experience is the keyword here. Thanks to massive technological advances happening in big data and AI, Justin saw new possibilities for improved user experiences with a brand.
Speaker: Ben Epstein, Stealth Founder & CTO | Tony Karrer, Founder & CTO, Aggregage
When tasked with building a fundamentally new product line with deeper insights than previously achievable for a high-value client, Ben Epstein and his team faced a significant challenge: how to harness LLMs to produce consistent, high-accuracy outputs at scale. In this new session, Ben will share how he and his team engineered a system (based on proven software engineering approaches) that employs reproducible test variations (via temperature 0 and fixed seeds), and enables non-LLM evaluation m
Transactional databases have long been the most critical component of application design. Why? Because a steadfast database is generally the ultimate enforcement point for correctness in a messy, distributed world. Without them we’d overpay and undercharge. We’d lose riders trying … The post The Modern Transactional Stack appeared first on Andreessen Horowitz.
So one of my favorite categories to track and analyze in SaaS is project management. Why? Diversity of vendors and customers. There are so many leaders that have IPO’d (Asana, Monday, Atlassian, Smartsheet , etc) and so many that will (Notion, Clickup, Airtable, etc.). And so many different strategies, from more enterprise to more SMB, from more tech focused (Asana) to less tech focused (Monday).
The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) plans to launch a dedicated task force to investigate ChatGPT after a number of European privacy watchdogs raised concerns about whether the technology is compliant with the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Europe's national privacy regulators said on Thursday that the decision came following discussions about recent enforcement action undertaken by the Italian data protection authority against OpenAI regarding its ChatGPT service.

Achieving your retention goals starts with the right solution.
Nothing says anyone can become a social media manager like Buffer’s resident music major turned SMM, Mitra Mehvar. However, the question is less can you become a social media manager and more should you pursue this career? Social media is often glamorized, especially in the media — but what does it really take to kick off a career? Is it as fun as that one girl on The Bold Type makes it look?

A new report shows that 77% of employers worldwide are finding it difficult to fill open job roles, which represents a 17-year-high talent shortage, according to multinational staffing firm ManpowerGroup. The annual survey of 39,000 employers across 41 countries showed a 2% year-over-year increase in employers who said they’re struggling to fill roles; that’s more than double the difficulty reported in 2010 (31% of employers at that time).
Too often, I see sales teams thinking of their “ sales process ” as a set of stages in their pipeline and maybe a bunch of fields to complete at each stage. And I see those same teams wrongly claiming, in deal reviews, that these are the things that killed their deals: Product functionality gaps The winning vendor’s solution included critical functionality that we don’t have.

Two months back, we launched Buffer’s AI Assistant. It’s one of the most popular features we’ve ever launched at Buffer. Since launching AI has assisted in creating over 31,500 posts for 8,100 users. That’s 2.5 million AI-generated words created in Buffer. So, you won’t be surprised to hear we’ve been hard at work making it both smarter and faster.
A long ways back, I was meeting with one of our largest customers, one of our first $1m TCV deals. As I was coming, someone else was leaving – Marc Benioff. He’d come (flying private I assume, and possibly straight from Hawaii) to … kiss the customer’s arse, as near as I could tell. The customer already had thousands and thousands of seats of Salesforce.
Did you watch the television program Ted Lasso? You probably did; it has the ubiquity of the 1980s’ The Golden Girls in an era of deeply fragmented viewership. I enjoyed the first season quite a bit, but after watching the second season, was so repulsed by the folksy, smarmy, saccharine shallowness that I stopped.
